Keith Currency to seal deal with international record labels

A local singer will soon seal a deal with international record labels for his latest song.

Keith Currency’s music video ‘Wine Fi Me’, which was recently released on YouTube, has caught the interest of record labels Artistry Worldwide and 360 Artistry, of California.

In a recent interview, Ivan Berry of 360 Artistry said Currency’s song will be released digitally over streaming apps and heavily marketed on social media.

“So, the deal currently is for this song; that’s the legal aspect. However, … we think Keith Currency is a star and we are waiting to hear his new music to figure out if we are going to go [with] another single,… and then possibly an album,” the record label manager said.

He said the song ‘Wine Fi Me’ has a Caribbean flavour, which can hold up in the global market.

“So, we are going hard on this one. It’s going to take at least six months to work this song properly anywhere…hopefully by that time he is in the studio producing new songs. We are open-handed when it comes to Keith and if we think he has more hits, then we will release more hits,” Berry said.

Currency, who has produced ‘Pat it’, ‘All the Girl Dem Want Banana,’ ‘Piece of This’ and ‘Feter’, said he was told by the label years before to find a style that no one ever had done before, that would catch the listening ear.

“I remember all of that when I got back to the studio and I start to feel back myself,” Currency said.

He credits the inspiration for the song to his companion, who he explained had inspired an earlier song, ‘In your Soul’ which he said had him hooked to the genre.

“After that song I just got locked onto that genre and I just ease hip hop aside and all music aside,” the singer said.

The music video for ‘Wine Fi Me’ starts with a close shot of a woman’s posterior walking up to Currency, who is posing on a luxury vehicle. The video was shot at the decommissioned ET Joshua airport compound and has short clips of racy scenes.

The video was shot and edited by Fross Films and features models Carla, Cachely and Judi, wearing swimsuits by Shernicia Mayers. ‘Wine Fi Me’ was produced by Beat Demons and was recorded at JJ Master for Starz Studios in Barrouallie.
