1997 – The National Insurance Scheme celebrated 10 years of service to the nation.

The following benefits were added: Employment Injury

NAAP – there were 1300 recipients.

The total contribution rate increased to 6%

Employer’s – 3.5% Employee’s – 2.5%

0.5% for Employment Injury Benefit.

The introduction of the NIS Annual Awards Dinner. Employees with 10 or more years of service were awarded for their long service.

NIS donated an ultrasound machine to the General Hospital.

1998 – A new Chairman of the Board – Mr. Earl Crichton.

The first strategic plan was completed.

The Canadian Reciprocal Agreement was signed.

NIS became a member of ISSA.

Certified Records of employees Earnings & Form C1A replaced the Deduction Card.

The Combined Form C5 was introduced.
