Coast Guard searching for missing 25-foot vessel

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard has launched a search and rescue operation for a vessel which was reported missing on Wednesday at 9:55 am.
The vessel, “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly,” left Canouan at about 4:45 am on Wednesday with two persons on board and a quantity of fish, a release from the Police public relations department said.
“Up to 10:00 a.m. on 27th September, 2018, the SVG Coast Guard had a negative sighting or reports of the vessel making any landfall. As a result, a Search and Rescue operation was launched.
“Thus far a search within the following coordinates was conducted by the coast guard vessel: Latitude and Longitude (12° 59.4N, 061° 17.4W, 12° 45N, 061° 20W, 12° 48N, 061° 32W, 12° 59.4N, 061° 30W) a distance roughly 18 to 20 NM west and North West of the island of Canouan was searched. The Coast Guard Vessel also conducted searches between Canouan and Bequia, which resulted with negative sighting.
“The SVG Fisheries Trawler ‘Black Jack’ with Mr. Eli Slater and a party of men also conducted a search to the north of Bequia Island and a negative sighting was also reported.
“Sea conditions are rough at present. The MRCC Trinidad, MRCC Fort De France and Regional Security System (RSS) Operations room has been contacted and Search and Rescue information relayed. Barbados Coast Guard and Grenada Coast Guard were informed,” the release said.
The two men onboard have been identified as fisherman Anthony ‘Chad’ Ballantyne and mason Anthony ‘Duck’ Cruickshank.
The vessel is 25ft, red and blue outside, with one (1) 75HP engine. Search and Rescue operations are still ongoing for the vessel, the police said.
