My Fry-Dey Bone-Us Valentine Shirt!

Pardon me if ah sound overly buy-us towards de new add-mini-stray- shun, but how could I not be, when my wife who has bin ah public servant, ah teacher all she life, never hear her say she got bonus, but she came home glee-fully last Fry-dey afternoon wid ah gift foh me.

When ah opened it,was ah fashionable Caribbean designed Red shirt!

She read my curious look, and explained right away: “ I got my bone-us, part of Dr. Fry-dey’s initiative so I bought yuh ah Valentine’s Day gift,
dat should explain de reason foh de colour Red, to hut-up Ralph ’n’dem head! “

Den she explained further how “town busy” ,Dr Fry-dey and dem full-fill dey elect-shuns promises way “roughly 12, 000 public workers would receive about EC$21 million, Christmas bonuses DAT include tax-free payments of $2,000 for public servants; $1,500 for (Gov’t) pen-shun-us; and $1,000 for daily-paid workers all of which was to be paid last month-end January 30, 2026.

Lie-Za got pen-shun bone-us too, and heckling me how come NIS didn’t even give pen-shun-us ah glass ah mauby foh we Christmas. She let de punches flow saying dat ULP did not do much to enhance de NIS pen-shuners living standard. De year 2014, twelve years ago, was de last time pen-shunners got an increase. And dat same year 2014 de pen-shun retirement age went from 60 to 65, (wuk-till-yuh dead). Worst still, in 2024 workers’ contributions were increased from 10 % to 15% (2% in 2024 and 1% in 2025, 1926 and 2027). Painful story was when ULP took office, dey faultered in paying Public Servants’ NIS Contributions.

Remember when dat was made public, de same Go-venom-mint compounded de death by seeking another loan, from de same NIS (secured dis time) to pay de defaulted loan! Digging ah hole to fill two holes. De signs are clear dat dey’ll be investigations, including fren-sick-audits into ah number of go-venom-mint Statutory Boards and
Corporations. Nuff people will have to answer to alleged corrupt-shun. Who cant swim will float!.

Inspite of Lie-Za’s slugging of NIS, I am ah proud NIS pen-shun-her, and ah encouraging every wuker, no matter how small de salary is, get an NIS card, and please pay yuh NIS. One day NIS will be able to pay

hell’t benefits as Arm-in had proposed and guess who opposed.

FIRE AND BRIMSTONE

Is lot ah lightening peeled and thunder cracked in Parliar-mint last week during de debate on de Estimate. Dem young ministers came out laden wid Arm-U-nay-Shun! And if de Budget presentations are in any form or fashion close to de Estimates, dey’ll be Brimstone and Fire in de House. Madam Speaker who sounded confident has her wuk cut out.

And wid dat is gone ah gone again,

One Love Bassy
