Cheese Paste

I have never been the biggest fan of cheese paste, but when it’s done well its quite delicious. I have tried to duplicate it for many years. I think I got it with this recipe. Give it a try.

You will need:

9 oz of grated cheese (preferable sharp cheddar, but they it be mixed)
1 medium carrot finely grated (grated finely)
1 tablespoon mayo
3 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon grated onion (minced finely)
1 teaspoon pepper sauce or Black pepper (optional)
1 teaspoon of mustard
Food colouring (optional)
Sandwich Loaf Bread

Method:

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, except for food colouring. The mixture needs to be creamy and spreadable. Add more butter if needed to get to required texture. Separate in multiple bowls (if making multicoloured sandwiches) then add food colouring a few drops at a time until you have reached the colour desired. Spread between loaves and cut as desired. If there is leftover paste you can store in the refrigerator.

Tips: Some persons add a small amount of relish as well.
